Every year, new iPhones are released, and with them, fresh improvements and advancements. However, the best features are always reserved for the Pro model iPhones. Let’s say that since the iPhone 12 — the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 — the vanilla iPhones have been minor iterative changes. With that said, the iPhone 15 series is expected to launch next month, and if leaks and rumors are to be believed, not only will the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max receive significant upgrades, but the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will also receive some love.
So, putting away the leaks and rumors surrounding the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, what are the improvements we’d want to see in the forthcoming devices? This article has a list of five of them. Continue reading to learn more.
Keys Specification
1. Revised Design
With the exception of the vertical camera layout at the iPhone 12’s rear, the current iPhone 14 looks and feels quite identical to the iPhone 13, which itself feels very similar to the iPhone 12. So far, the three prior generations of iPhones have been very similar, to the point where the design appears monotonous. We don’t expect the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus to be dramatically redesigned, but a few tweaks here and there might give the lineup a new lease on life. Perhaps if Apple could remove the current line-up’s flat-edge design, add a few curves to the rear, a 2.5D glass upfront, and while the Action Button is rumored to debut in the Pro models, perhaps we might get it in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus as well? And, all things considered, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, in addition to new colors, may be just as appealing as their iPhone 15 Pro siblings.
2. Screen with a High refresh rate
Rumours do not point to a high refresh rate screen on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, but how cool would it be if the current vanilla versions could also get one? And, yes, Apple was previously late to the party with 120Hz panels, which debuted on the iPhone 13 Pro series, but what if everything changes this year and Apple throws a curveball? Even if it isn’t the fancy 120Hz ProMotion display of the Pro models, a 90Hz screen on the vanilla iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus would be a nice start, eh? So there is one thing that we would greatly appreciate. However, this is quite doubtful, and we may end up with the standard 60Hz panels.
3. Dynamic Island across the board
Speaking of displays, another enhancement for the incoming iPhone 15 series is the Dynamic Island on all devices. For those who are unaware, the Dynamic Island replaced the notorious notch cutout on iPhone 14 Pro models, and the iPhone 15 Pro models are rumored to include the Dynamic Island as well. Will Dynamic Island, on the other hand, make the cut on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus? Some rumors imply it, others do not, but if you ask us, the notch cutout looks archaic and, practically, does not offer any utility at this moment. Dynamic Island, on the other hand, isn’t as visually pleasing as the hole-punch cutouts featured on Android smartphones, but it adds a ton of usefulness.
4. Type-C USB port
All iPhone 15 models may finally gain the long-desired USB Type-C connection, which will replace the Lightning port. This is fantastic news! However, the main question remains. What speeds will the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus be capable of? The iPhone 14 Pro series, you see, is limited to USB 2.0 speeds, which offer transfer rates of up to 480Mbps. And this has long been the standard on iPhones. However, the iPhone 15 Pro series is rumored to enable USB 3.0 speeds, which, when combined with Thunderbolt capability, might support transfer rates ranging from 10Gbps to 40Gbps. While this would be fantastic for the iPhone 15 Pro series, would the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus also receive a type-C port with USB 3.0 speeds? Will the standard models be limited to USB 2.0 speeds? Only time will tell, but we’d love to see the speedier USB standard on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.
5. iPhone 15 Price
This isn’t precisely an upgrade, but if there’s a 1% chance that every upgrade we want to see on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus becomes a reality, wouldn’t it be amazing — especially if the costs remain the same as the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus? Of course, we’d like to see more affordable prices for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, but given rumors that the iPhone 15 Pro series will be priced even higher than the current iPhone 14 Pro series in India — we believe it’ll be great if Apple keeps the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus pricing the same as last year’s iPhone 14 models.
