Those who did not file their taxes in April may be eligible for a financial aid check of up to $1,000. Who will be the lucky recipient? Determine who is qualified.

The United States offers a variety of financial assistance payments to people who qualify. In many situations, these payments are tied to an individual’s tax situation; that is, they are intended at those who file a tax return with the Internal Revenue Service year after year.

But what about residents who are unable to file taxes because they do not earn enough? In New Mexico, a new type of financial aid has been granted for low-income people who are unable to submit taxes due to this reason.

These are tax relief payments for New Mexicans who did not qualify for the state’s tax rebates.

  • Have a valid Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
  • Have not received or intended to receive a bonus payment as a result of filing the 2021 personal income tax return.
  • If you receive the “2023 Rebates for NM Families,” you are not eligible for this new payment.

To be eligible for the benefits, you must have applied to the New Mexico Department of Human Services by June 30, 2023. If you were eligible for financial help, you will begin receiving payments at the end of July 2023.
