DOWNEY, California (KABC) – A disturbance broke out late Friday night at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey, prompting the facility to be locked down.
AIR7 HD caught scores of Downey Police Department officers and Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies around the huge institution that shelters juvenile criminals.
On an Instagram post about the incident, Downey PD termed it “a disturbance” and asked people to avoid the area. Residents in the area were instructed to stay indoors with their doors and windows locked.
It’s unknown whether anyone was hurt.
The facility was later secured, and there was no threat to the public, according to Downey PD.
Details about what sparked the riot were not immediately disclosed.
