When it comes to musical styles, Eminem and Ed Sheeran don’t have much in common. Nonetheless, the 50-year-old Detroit rapper and the 32-year-old English pop star are two of the decade’s biggest stars.
Eminem made a tremendous splash in 1997 with his album Slim Shady, while Ed Sheeran made a major splash in 2002 with his debut album +. Since then, each has sold out gigs all over the world. And Ed Sheeran is currently doing so.
Ed Sheeran is currently on his international hit tour “Subtract,” which is one of the world’s largest tours this summer, alongside Beyoncé and Taylor Swift. Despite the fact that he could sell out much larger venues, he has largely focused on smaller venues in the United States for more intimate concerts.
He performed in front of a sold-out crowd at the Royal Oak Music Theatre in suburban Detroit on Saturday. And when local legend Eminem appeared on stage, those lucky ticket holders were in for a major surprise.
Catch a peek as Eminem joins Ed Sheeran on stage to perform “Lose Yourself,” possibly Eminem’s biggest hit from the film “8 Mile.”
They then collaborated on another Eminem hit, the ballad “Stan.” The song gained popularity once Sir Elton John appeared on it. They collaborated to perform the song at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in 2022.
What a fantastic surprise for the fans in attendance. Sheeran’s next gig is scheduled for next Friday in Nashville, Tennessee.
