Geraldo Rivera is sharing his side of the story about his departure from Fox News last month.

The Fox News journalist, who joined the network in 2001, appeared on “The View” on Thursday, recalling having a “toxic relationship” with one of “The Five” co-hosts, which led to his being “fired” from the show. He chuckled when asked who his poisonous connection was with.

“If you fire me from the number one (Fox News) show, I’m going to quit,” Rivera told officials. “I thought it was very unfair that in our disputes, he was always favoured.”

Rivera was a part-time panellist on “The Five,” advocating a liberal viewpoint against conservatives Jesse Watters, Bret Baier, Sean Hannity, and Jeannette Pirro.

Rivera’s clashes with panellist Greg Gutfeld, whom he once dubbed a “insulting punk” on broadcast, became increasingly personal. With “The Five” being Fox’s highest-rated show, conservative panellists and rising stars Gutfeld and Watters have used it to launch their own prime-time shows on the network schedule.

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin questioned Rivera on Thursday why he wasn’t given the chance to lead his own show, to which he replied, “My ideology does not fit at Fox.” “They always squeezed me in.”

Geraldo Rivera is leaving Fox News after claiming he was “fired” from “The Five.”

Rivera previously stated that he was momentarily suspended from “The Five” after profanely criticising some of the views of fired prime-time anchor Tucker Carlson.

Rivera told “The View” co-hosts, “I don’t like to be unkind, but what he did, just as I will never vote for Donald Trump, I will never forgive Tucker about Jan. 6.”

Last month, the television veteran informed The Associated Press that he had decided to leave the show due to conflicts.

It was unclear what had happened to cause Rivera to announce, both on the air and on Twitter, that he had been dismissed from the show on June 30. “We reached an amicable conclusion with Geraldo over the past few weeks,” Fox said in a statement, and a spokesman had no additional comment.
