A firefighting helicopter crashed in Riverside County, California, on Monday while combating a brush fire in the area, according to media reports.According to KABC-TV in Los Angeles, the tragedy happened late Sunday night while personnel were combating the Broadway Fire near Cabazon.
Authorities warned that there could be several casualties because no one knew how many people were onboard the doomed helicopter.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at Pipeline Road and Apache Trail.
The Broadway Fire occurred along Broadway and Esperanza Avenues. According to KABC-TV, it has expanded to at least three acres.
The crash’s cause is being investigated.
